National Disability Services (NDS) calls on employment service providers and other professional employment specialists, to help shape and drive the program for NDS's Disability at Work Conference. The conference will be held on 23-24 July 2024 in Sydney.
The theme of this year’s NDS Disability at Work Conference is Navigating the future of Disability Employment.
two-day conference, employment service providers, government officials, academics, mainstream employers, sector experts, thought leaders and people with disability will come together to discuss outcomes and opportunities arising from the:

Ongoing DES reform agenda
Senior government officials will present on the government’s responses to the findings of these recent reviews as well as disability employment policy developments and directions – including the Australian Disability Strategy and the NDIS Participant Employment Strategy. In addition, people with disability will highlight their employment journeys, trials and triumphs in a period of profound economic uncertainty and ongoing policy reform.
NDS invites interested parties to drive these important conversations by submitting a paper for consideration for the conference program.
Themes and topics for consideration could include:
- The voices and experiences of jobseekers and employees with disability
- The ongoing disability employment policy reform agenda
- Financial sustainability of disability social enterprises
- Maximising social enterprise procurement opportunities
- Customised employment in open or supported employment settings
- Utilising technology to enhance employee skills and productivity
- Innovative employment and business models and case studies
- ing supported employees to mainstream employment
- Supporting school leavers and young people into employment
- Self-employment, micro-enterprises and entrepreneurship
- Working with employers to create inclusive and accessible recruitment processes and workplaces
- Understanding disability and diversity, to create an accepting, safe and enriched community for everyone.Analysis of disability employment data and emerging trends
- International case studies and disability employment policy directions
Submit an abstract of up to 300 words and contribute to this years' program. A programming committee will be convened to review and shortlist submissions.
